Description: We introduce a new involutive division, called Noether division, and discuss
its use for computing Noether normalisations. It is shown that a finite Noether
basis exists, if and only if the given ideal is in Noether position. We present a
deterministic algorithm for transforming any ideal into Noether position based
on the Noether division. Finally, we study the relationship to Rees
decompositions. |
