Research interests

My research areas are in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and numerical linear algebra. In particular this concerns the solution of unsteady compressible flow problems at all Mach numbers, as well as fluid structure interaction. The appearing problems are stiff, thus naturally leading to implicit time integration schemes and consequently the question of how to solve large nonlinear and linear equation systems efficiently. Thereby, my research is motivated by applications, such as the simulation of fires in car tunnels, wind turbines or gas quenching in steel forging. The latter is the topic of my project in the SFB TRR 30.
